I just used the Hughes stud kit and hold downs on mine with the groove down. These rockers are pretty much bullet proof and I'm sure they will still be "rocking" long after get my use out of them. I didn't use any locktite on mine just ARP lube on the threads and washers and dry into the heads. Gus

I use studs also. Anytime you start screwing bolts in and out of aluminum your going to have thread problems . Pressure from the springs while tightening down the shafts make it even worse.
it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

If your going to use the RAS big shaft retainers make sure the two center bolts are shoulder down to or a tiny bit lower than the oil feed hole in the heads from the block up to the shafts, I like to see at least 1/2 inch thread engagement on all the fasteners, more is better as long as your not bottoming the bolts out in the heads Studs would be better As far as lube I use the same oil I assemble and run in my motors, no magic elixers or fluids for me K.I.S.S.
