So i have what i thought to be a complete set of door hinges for my charger. Well the passenger side upper one does not have the large S looking spring. Should it?

I don't think 71 B Body cars had S springs. They have a miniature coil type spring in them. At least that's what is in my 71B

Hi Steve...FWIW...The hinges on the 73RR I'm working on are original and are not the same design from left to right...

Shouldn’t be any springs on the upper hinges. Lowers have a coil spring loaded detent plate rolling across a single roller.

Thanks guys i am using the set off a parts car. Where can you buy the oversized roll pin and roller? I think you can get them somewhere correct?

Steve, you're better off just swapping them for a rebuilt set. I forget the name of the guy that does them but it's well worth the cost. I believe I bought mine at Carlisle. I'm sure someone will chime in with a name....

Got mine rebuilt by SMS. All the internal parts like spring roller were missing. Did a great job. Here's a link

Along with the 71 Charger SE I just picked up, it came with all new(Uninstalled yet) upper and lower hinges. Man, these are bigger and heavier than earlier B-Bodys.

Are the old one's worth anyhing? Or just toss em to the scrap guy.

I had sms do the ones on the Bee.I've been racing it three years and the driver side is wiped out.The replacement roller and plate just are not as hard as the originals. One cut the other

Nothing like being in the lanes not being able to close the door

I just re-pinned my orignal ones with a pin kit I bought at the auto parts store. Drilled out for the bushings and installed new pins.

thanks for everyones help. I bought new pins at carlisle and im going to install them. There is a machinist here that looked at them for me. He said he would drill out the old roll pins and put in oversized ones. Then he is going to machine a new roller for me since the ones i have are junk. For 75 a pair its well worth it in my book
