Here's an original. Since Max Wedge engines were assembled on the Marine Engine line they used a different/unique stamping die set that had a bigger font as compared to regular production line font. Also, all Max Wedges, all years, were painted Race Hemi Orange, any sign of original turquoise paint and it's probably not a MW.

Keep in mind that blocks were often cast months or even years before being assembled. Most 1962 casting date blocks would have been assembled for the 1963 production year and would have been 426's rather than 413's

You have to be careful,I am pretty sure the 413 truck block was also large font.Real easy to add the rest of the numbers. Both 62 blocks shown above have a different font for the # 6.Which one is correct?

The first picture Scott posted is a motor I had, here are pictures of two more '62s. Your pictures look like an original stamp to me, if the block has bore notches it should be real.

Since most '62 Max Wedge production was in June and July, I would think those 5/62 and 6/62 casting dates went into '62 cars. IIRC, Galen stated that the earliest production Maxie was 5/14/62.
