Restoring my 70 Challenger. I rebuilt the entire front suspension. New torsion bars, etc.
When installing the torsion bar into the lower control arm, is there a baseline set point that the fulcrum on the lower control arm should be before inserting the bar
I think I might have to pull the front portion of the bar back out of the control arm and move the fulcrum on the control arm to get more height.
I hope this makes sense. As is, the car is sitting too low despite adjusting the ride height adjustment screws on the lower control arm

Look no farther than the Factory Service Manual (FSM) for the proper procedure. I know that there should be no load so the front end will need to be off the ground. Also don't forget that the nut on the lower control arm spindle (where it attaches to the K frame) does not get tightened until the ride height is adjusted or you will twist the rubber bushing in the LCA.

And the forward strut rod nut should not be tight either until ride height is set.

"Look no farther than the Factory Service Manual (FSM) for the proper procedure."

What I am asking is not in the FSM

I understand to not tighten various things prior to the car being fully loaded.

The question i have is what "position" do you normally have the fulcrum ( not sure if that is the correct name or description ) portion of the LCA before installing the bar,,,,( does it sit "above, within, below" the LCA housing )

I put a link to a picture that shows the "fulcrum" part i am referring to.... ( obviously it is too high in the picture,,, )

I am going to pull the bars out and adjust the fulcrum part of the LCA..
I should be able to figure it out,,,,,

Thx

Just did this on my challenger.

If memory serves me correct, the lever or "fulcrum" was sticking nearly straight out with a slightly downward angle. Be sure to adjust the ride height bolt all the way out so it doesn't hang up on the "fulcrum".

I was arguing with my dad because I thought that the "fulcrum" needed to be all the way in the down position for maximum ride height. When you slide in the torsion from the rear, it should just slip in, almost like something's wrong. Unless your repop torsional are out of alignment, then you will have to bang that sucker in...not fun. My pass side torsion turned out to be slightly bent and it was a pain to get it in the pocket....

Anytime brother...

Here is a picture of where I ended up on the adjusting bolt. It sticks out halfway from the lower control arm. I have yet to drive the car, but I feel like it's at the proper ride height once it settles/gets aligned.

Install the adjusting bolt, and it's block, in the LCA, with the bolt backed all of the way out where it doesn't protrude, and the adjuster arm touching the block. The rest will tack care of its self.
