will a 235/60/14 on 14x 7 with 4 " back spacings fit on the front of a 72 dart, and 255/60/14 on a 7 inch wheel with 4" back spacing fit on the rear? thanks mike

I remember having a 245 60 15 on a 7" rim on a 72 Dart. Don't remember the backspacing but it was very tight to the leaf and the quarter panel.

He asked about front not rear.
As far as rear goes though I have 275/60/15 on 15x8 with 4.5 back space but also have moser axsles and 11" drums
I dont think a 235/60 would work on the fronts.

im looking for a tire that will fill the wheel well nicly height wise, not look like pizza cutters and be an easy install and id like a little taller tire on the rear than the front to help give it a little rake. this is really my wifes gig. she thinks its time to give the dart some love. she saved the car from going to the wrecking yard. adam, you have plenty of clearance everywhere ?, cause it looks nice. ron what size fronts are you guys running? the car right now has 215 75 14s on the rear and 205 75 14s on the front. thanks for the help guys

Theres plenty of room in for these but I still need to jack the rear up, put jack stands under the frame rails and hang the rear to get the rears on. Just the way the quarters are cut.

do you know your wheel width and back spacing?. thanks for the pics i think i might go with the same size you have.

i have to put the rear tires and wheels on my 68 satellite the same way

Mike the boys car has 205/75-14's up front and the 245/60-15's out back and they have plenty of room and thats why I think 255's will fit but the 245's fit great. Ron

A 235 tire on a 7" wide rim with 4.25" of backspacing will fit in the rear.

Mike in this pic he has the Hoosier 26 x 9.5 tires on the back and the 245/60-15 are about the same 26" tall and about the same width. Thought this pic gives a good angle. Ron

I have 235/60-14 BFGs on Rallyes on my 72' Swinger with KH disks, plus the car sits fairly low in front. No rubbing at all. Probably depends on the brakes — KH or big bolt?

I have that combo on the front of my car. It's not the tire that gave me trouble as much as the rim.
Mine have 4.25 back spacing and they wiped out the
wheel weights. I had to go to stick on's to get them
to work. I think with a 4" back spacing you will be right on.

I have 255-60 x 15 on my 70 Dart. They are tight to the spring with about 1/4" clearance and about the same in the wheel well fender lip. I have never had any problems with them rubbing. There is no way to install this size as you normally would by jacking the car up and setting jackstands under the axle. You have to jack it up by the bumper to obtain enough wheel well clearance to make the tire fit the wheel well opening.
