Ok, new to this forum, done a lot of research, and am seriously thinking of jumping into this combo for my S/G car.
Let me give you my setup:
'86 Dodge Daytona
Square Chassis car
Had a 373 w2 motor in it. (Blew it up) made about 620 hp @7500 540 ft/lbs tq at 5700
Ford 9" with 5.13 gear
Ladder bar car.
904 trans. 2.74 first gear
6,000 8" converter
2400lbs with me in it
Best E.T. =8.93@150
1.18 60 ft.
My question is about the trans mid mount, who makes them and how much do they go for?
Also about the adapter for the converter, I don't want to change my current setup. I want to use my converter and starter.
Really from the looks of it I can't go wrong with this motor for the price. I have a couple of friends that run this motor but they have a glide. Super reliable and repeatable from what they tell me.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thanks and love this forum
Jaimie

I have complete kits for 6 bolt ford and 8 bolt symmetrical one piece seal cranks $1,000. I can do the Chevy flange much cheaper. No crank adapter or custom machining. I also can sell the bellhousing by itself for $750.

Is that for the 904? Not sure of the crank yet. And with your setup I can use my Chrysler mini starter no problem?

Just a question a bit off topic. But WHY would you want to run a 3 speed in S/G?? Surely not the norm for sure, just curious.

BTW welcome aboard!!

The only reason I run it is because I had one. I'm probably the only guy in the country that runs a 3speed. I make it work though, shift 1-2 on time then stop comes on then 2-3 shift after the stop comes off. It works pretty good. If I ever hurt it I'll go to the conventional glide.

Hi Jamie, say hi to Joel. If you can find one of those it would be a great engine to run, but I think you will find the 904 may not hold up well, and the added power would be too much to run a 3 speed for anything outside of trying to run Comp. A glide would be a better choice for what you guys do.

Hey Mark, ya I figure if the hemi guys can run them in those big heavy cars, I can run them. I know mine isn't an A-1 proflight, but we shall see. I think the extra gear will help keep the rpms up too. If it breaks I'll make Mike Griggs happy and get a beefy F.T.I. Glide. I'm thinking I'll need one of your carbs too, I don't think my little 850 will keep up.

My bellhousing's fit Reid super cases. Superglide 2spd or turboglide 3spd. BTE also has a powerglide case that has the same flange.

Pro trans offers a torque flite with a flange that bolts to pump that will accept my bell.

Their us a full thread about my bells on here. They use Mopar starter and standard gm converter. Look up Reid super case with flange outside the pump area to mounts detachable bells. No liner or should needed.

Ya that's what I've been afraid of, I have a 904 torqueflight and a Chrysler converter flywheel is part of the converter. Not sure how I can get this to work.

A-1 makes a 904 pump to Reid flange adapter.

Better to sell out and go Reid case with QuickTime R5 to Reid bell.

Can't figure how to attach pics on new board.

Search eBay dodge R5. The bells are for sale there. Soon as things pic up after Racing season should start ads on here. July Mopar Collectors Guide has a story on the kit page 22-23.
