Just wanted to post an informational about my new Indy block, I don't want it to turn into a Indy bash thred. I bought a new Indy block from a member here that lived close to me. The block was new and semi machined with lifter bushings installed. After mock up I took it to my machinest and was told the decks were "S" shaped and were .007" out from front to back, the line hone was.002" out, the oil galleys for pushrods oil were to low to pick up oil, the thrust bearing wouldn't even fit in the block due to the block being miss machined . I had my guy fix all the problems. After assembly and start up I found that the block is filling the water jacket with motor oil now, so it's back to the machine shop to have a sleeve installed in the oil gally now.... After talking to a well known mopar engine builder he had told me that he has heard of that happening at other shops and has seen it twice in his shop..... I just wanted to give you guys a buyer be ware of the junk most know about that leaves Indys place, I havent , and won't contact Indy about my block due to it will be a waste of my time....give ken black a call and wait it out... Thanks for listing
Tony

The stuff they do is probably fraud and since it is going across state lines usually with phone / email it is federal. They sell you packages which are supposed to include machining that is not performed, or is so out of whack that it has to be redone.

Avoid... Too bad about your build.

What the Hell? That was my block!
Damn that really sucks! Is the block even usable?
Not good news at all!

Yes, it looks to be fixable... Very frustrating not anyone's fault but Indy.

Definitely wait it out. I ordered last November. Deposit paid and nothing but crickets ever since.

Mine is in the machine shop right now. Could you tell me where to look for the oil issue. I had the decks fixed, and waiting on J&E to finish the bores.

Thanks for the heads up.!

Mine is in the priority oil gally , install a head or use a deck plate, pressurize the water jacket ( plate on water pump holes with gauge )use soap suds to see if you have any leaks

What's wrong with turning this into a bash Indy thread? Is that against the rules? I don't want to break the rules but we have so much material to work with.

I wonder if Indy sells the rejects to customers as components and keeps the good blocks for their own builds? I know when the Mega block I got from them held pressure in the water side I was very relieved. My buddy MoparAl had a new Indy block and it seems to have been OK as far as water/oil goes.

I gave a heads-up last year saying its time to order if you want a Keith Black block for the 2015 race season but guys laughed it off. Its not like you have to pay in full when you order and EVERY block is custom made to your specs and well worth the wait.

I don't know about other people's experiences but every time I deal with Indy, at the end of the day I feel like I have been sexually assaulted.

When I was buying BB stuff a few years back was going to buy another set of B1s. No way I was buying Indy, UNTIL a Killer set of -1s came up for sale(Guppy) sold them a just bought them back the other day, and still the only reason I have Indy heads is because where they came from, would have NEVER got them new from Indy.

Too bad we have so few choices. KB, wait for months with money down first, Indy, terrible customer service and potentially sub par blocks, not sure what's up with HP Performance, World through Bill Mitchell and some issues there too. Don't even think about steel. And with the exception of the 600-13 heads and 4.840 BS Indy block, you better have lot's o dollars for the 5" and over billet stuff. Oh well.....

i bought a 400 maxx block a few years back. no problem with oiling or water jackets. my lifter bores aren't bushed but it's run great like that for 6 years now. the deck did vary by 0.002 but i was decking the block to get a zero deck height for my pistons so it wasn't an issue. not everything that rolls out ICH's door is a turd, but it sounds like your one was.
