I have a Mopar Performance electronic distributor with the black cap that says Mopar on it on a 440. I need to replace the cap and rotor. I tried an Accell cap and rotor, but the rotor wouldn't fit, and the Accell cap wouldn't lock down(didn't fit on the shaft). Does anyone know where I can get a replacement cap and rotor that will fit like the original? Thanks!

It depends on which type Mopar perforamnce distributor you have, the Hemi race type with 1/4 of the top of the shaft missing for the rotor to slide onto for alignment or the OEM type with the narrow slot in the top of the shaft to align the rotor, the caps are different also and need to match. The Hemi type cap has a small round carbon button hanging out of the center coil terminal with a spring on it to ride on the rotor and the other one has a tang on the rotor to ride against a small metal button under the coil wire terminal scope upIHTHs

Some years ago ago Accel had a bad run of rotors. They would not slide down far enough. Sounds like you might of gotten yourself a bad one. I got involved with Jegs on this issue and they ended up crediting me.

That is definitely the issue. The rotor will not slide down far enough on the shaft with the Accell piece. Thanks everyone!

Please give Mancini a call. They just got a boatload of Firecore Caps, which are the higher-quality types with the spark dams in the cap.

Try to get the kind with the type with the spark blocker inside. The sides of the terminals are inset into the cap product. Helps with spark scatter problems inside the cap. This is a dual point, but if you look closely, the sides of the terminals are covered with the tan plastic. This is the only style Firecore sells.

That's good info. I'll try to get a Firecore cap like that. Thanks.
