I've used both types and by far the best fiiting one is Metro's "SuperSoft" weather-strip. It is a softer foam-like material that contours really well to the door. The rubber ones tend to bunch up around the corners and you have a hard time even shutting the doors....
I just worked on a 70 Charger where the body shop had the doors opening and closing perfect before and after the paint job. The owner installed rubber seals from YearOne and the doors would not even come close to closing. I installed the "SuperSoft" seals and the doors went back to working properly.

Metro supersoft...I used the others and my doors would not close at all.
Same here! the SoffSeal products were the worst, the roofrail mlds sucked!, the trunk stripping I could live with?, the door mlds/seals were HORRIBLE!, I called SoffSeal, and was told "that's the first they ever heard" of any problems with their door gaskets, I was told I did my restoration all wrong!, I was supposed to install the door seals, then align the door!, Silly Me!, but I couldn't make this guy understand that the door can't even come witin a foot of closing! So I install a set of Metro seals, no problems, no "adjustment"!
I ended up sending most of the SoffSeals back, or in the trash, and replaceing with Metro
