Well, I'm finally putting on my Hotchkis UCAs, and was wondering how much of each heim end should be out. Just looking for a baseline before I have it aligned.

Thanks

How nutty do you want? The instructions are pretty conservative.

Just a novice guess, but I was thinking in the 7* caster and -2* camber range. Car is being setup with the TVS (rear suspension is straightforward). Finally going to start doing the SCCA regional events. Car is being geared more for autocross as I don't drive it for far/long on the street. How nutty does it need to be?

Run the front heims half way out and the rear heims with one thread showing. Should ball park it enough to get you close to that.

Thanks! Spent 2 hours last night on just the pass UBJ. Just modified the 1/2-20 x 3 SHCS to 2" long per your thread a while ago. Hopefully have everything installed this weekend and schedule an alignment before Memorial day weekend.

Hey Dan,

Are there any specific instructions for doing an alignment with the Hotchkis arms? Now that I have them, I was a little concerned about taking the car to an alignment shop and having the people not understand how to align the thing.

Thanks.

Jim

They'll want to keep adjustments to the rear eccentric as the front is a bt more fixed now. Add that to the fact that caster can be adjusted a bit more using the strut rod and there is a lot of adjustability. Remember that ride height has a pretty big effect on alignment too. I would suggest you have us or another competent shop handle your alignments as most guys these days don't know much more than toe-and-go's and what the machine tells them.

For those of us no where near a Hotchkis shop or any kind of race shop, options are slim.

I have found that shops that specialize in big trucks usually have a good alignment guy. At least around here that is.

It's that or learn to do it yourself.

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

Find out where the local fast Mustang guys are going. They have had adjustable struts available to them for years and any of the really fast 'stangs are using non-stock parts and specs and they will know who knows how to dial them in. This knowledge will translate well to a mopar.
