Possible that it was a 72 and later fender converted with marker light from a 70?

I just checked the fenders on my 7/70 Challenger: RH - original - missing stamp? ~ 4-1/2" LH - replaced - " MK - L - 40" ~ 4-1/2" wonder if the "short" fender didn't fit on the assembly line & ended up a "NOS" part?

I had the same experience with a over the counter NOS Challenger fender. Had to drill a couple spot welds and re-weld for a correct fit. Let my buddy know at the local Dodge dealer and he said it happens all the time. He said I should have brought it back and he would have got me a new one. It was easier to fix it on the car than hassle with a return. On the same order had a NOS rally hood that was mishandled and they caught it before I picked it up and they had already ordered a new one. Good luck
