I have 22* total in mine. 24* made more power by 2hp but i backed it off back to 22. Your combo is the same as mine except i run ported eagle heads and a dominator. Your cam is slighly larger. Good luck. I would like to hear how it does.

Touchy subject. It seems every engine combo is different. I just got my kids street Gen3 fired up recently. Starts great, accelerates like crap. Started with stock programming supplied with MSD Hemi6 controller. A bunch of guys have reversed the vacuum timing curve supplied with MSD and added as much as 4-5 degrees across the board on the advance side. I split the difference on mine. Went from 12 degree vacuum retard to 5 from 0-6"hg. And zero'd out from 11-15"hg (cruise) instead of adding timing. Ramped up advance under 3,000 rpm and topped out at 32 degrees instead of 28 degrees. Engine really woke up and straightened out. 5.7 short block, SRT cam, Eagle heads, MP/Edelbrock dual quad with 2 450 Holleys, long tube headers. The best thing you can do is make minor changes a little at a time. Sure was easier and quicker with a distributor than with a laptop, though.

Intake efficiency and cylinder pressure really dictate your timing requirements.
The Modman yielded shocking cyl pressure and I was able to run 28 total and 21 initial.
The Eddy Airgap dual quad is happy with 16 initial and 23 total.

67 RO23 clone with 6.1 SRT Hemi and dual quads. Soon to have Drag Pak induction and Throttle body.
