Just picked up a 70 RR with factory air grabber. Been working out all the bugs on the car, but the air grabber is making me scratch my head.

The original switch is in the car, 3 hoses are routed to it. The thing is a PITA to get too from under the dash. All hardware under hood appears to be correct and routed, as far as I can tell, correctly.

Air Grabber will open on start up, but won't close unless pull the hose off the pod on the hood. I reached under the dash and swapped hoses from nipple to nipple and the hood would lose vacuum and close, but the switch will still not operate the hood unless I switch the hoses all back to where they belong.

As far as a solenoid, its tough to see if one is under the dash or not. I was hoping someone would have a picture of a dash assemble with the switch/solenoid intalled as original. I original thought 70's didn't have solenoids, and they changed it in 71.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Chris

Swap the hoses at the vacuum can and test.

Thanks for posting diagram.

Yes, did switch hoses at pod on hood. If I reverse them (top to bottom) the door closes, but still no function with switch.

I can unhook bottom hose, leave top connected, door stays open. Then operate the switch, door still stays open. (all this while car is running of course).

My understanding is the solenoid is only for "ignition off", to close the door incase its left open.

Also, with switch in the up or down position while running, I can unhook bottom hose at hood canister and blow in or suck out air, and never feel any type of vacuum at any time. The top hose has vacuum with switch up or down.

That's not what I suggested, swap the hoses at the Vacuum reserve can on firewall.
