Have over 5000kms trouble free. Have floated vales quite a few times and lifters got noisey. Shut off for few hrs and they pump backup.
The other night had car out driving normal not beating on it at all. Parked it overnight and started car next morning.
Lifters were noisy. Oil level was good, oil pressure 80 psi cold 60 warm. Running 20w50 synthetic oil.

What would cause lifters to loose prime or bleed down ?dID i Damage them by floating them ?

Seems to be coming from both valve covers.

What should I be checking for ? Havent pulled valve covers yet. Scared to drive anymore in case something comes apart.
Thanks Werner

iagree May not be the lifters. Valves could be coming out of adjustment. There is a reason its making noise.

Huh? You might have had 5000km trouble free but the motors not. Ive not had trouble like that since a old 100k 318 with a couple lobes wiped off. But yours is a fresh crate motor.

But as others said, its time to inspect the top end. Adjust and hope you don't have to replace the cam and lifters.

At least your running it hard.

Well pulled valve cover and found pushrod came out from rocker arm. Reinstalled push rod and cranked engine over with coil grounded. There was little to no lift on push rod so figured wiped cam lobe off. Removed intake and found #7 intake lifter shot. Piece broke from inside guts of lifter and it was laying in valley. The cup that holds push rod. Circlip was still in lifter body.
Dodged a bullet I guess.

My question is : why are you floating the lifters ? Shift that thing. Read the tach, or get a shift light.

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead
