Ive yet to get myself a copy of David F's book or I would probably know some of this frown

Speaking of the Indy s/r and -1's. First one comes to mind is if you set the two beside each other is one head taller than the other? I've yet to figure out if one valve is longer also?

What is the installed spring height on the Victor, don't we usually set heads up at about 1.900 or 2"? Did I read about having trouble getting that on the Victor? I'm not even close to an expert on this kinda stuff so im lost! My cam is about a .650 lift or closer to .700 if using a 1.6 rocker and i'v always used the 950k motion spring.. it worked for me in the past so..

Rockers, dang.... I think I have read about using -1's rocker gear on the victor??? Thats an .800 offset iirc and the victor is .600 And all that about getting whatever you use to actually fit !?!?!? Thousand dollar plus rocker gear and machine work is outa my league anyways. I'll need something to bolt on and go if I try these heads.

I've been out of the game so long the Victor thing came about while I was sleeping. I have used Indy stuff in the past and they work w/o any bs as far as I'm concerned wink The s/r m/w is plenty for my tired old 451 but I'd kinda like to try something new and there is always that 4.250 crank I have packratted away just sitting with a 7.1 rod for company if I need room to grow.

I'm leaning to some unported (yuck) victor m/w and get my short block blow-by machine in shape to get out there some, then have the heads ported next year when money comes around (like that will happen).

performance goal's are ... it's about a 3000lb street legal heads up kinda thing that ran upper 8's on spray, did it befor and can do it again smile

Thanks, Eric.

I'm partial to the -1's 245cc big valve. Harland Sharp rockers would be the way to go, short of spending the big bucks on a Jesel setup.

Got my -1 top end on racingjunk. Max wedge ported, jesel setup, comp pushrods, ported -3 intake, BG dominator, Indy valve covers with spray bars for $3,500. Sold intake, got a TRE sheetmetal intake on Ebay for $900, swapped dominator and a little cash for a set of race prepped 850's. Pretty decent deals, I thought.

The nice thing about Indy stuff, it's been around... Like I say it works and no bs wink I keep looking at that Huges or whatever '400cfm intake victors' and thinking, dang!!! smile s/r must max out about 350? and -1 at about 375?

I don't 'need 400cfm, 350 is 'enough' but still and all... And I'm not sold on the victors just mostly thinking out loud smile

True that, got one in your pocket? Noone else does either.. I should be out boating today instead of worrying about a car I don't use and can't afford to fix properly anyways wink

I had both sets of heads, SR M.W. flowed 340 @.700 and 440-1 CNC ported flowed 370 @.700 both with 76.00CC chambers and valve spring pressures on two different short blocks, the pump gas 518 C.I. motor made 50 HP more with the dash 1 heads and the 526 C.I. race gas short block made 70 HP more, I used the same intake(440-3,400-3) on both sets of heads and the same carb. on both motors shruggy I have a set of unported Victor M.W. heads on my current 400 block 505 C.I. stroker motor with a Indy 400-3 on E85 in a 2750 lbs tube chassia S/P bracket car, it has ran a best of 9.003 at 147+ mph. My message is buy the best heads now instead of wishing you had later work I have a Koleno block and a set of CNC ported 440-1 with Jesel rockers on the shelf for a future build, I just bought a set of B1-MC ported with Ti valves for the Koleno block so I can build the best all out Wazzoo motor once and for all realcrazy

Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)
