I have a 74 dodge d100 truck that I am currently working on.... I am hoping maybe one of you guys can help me! The back glass in the truck is a "prestige" older aftermarket glass. It is very close in size to a factory sliding glass. We are trying to put this glass back in and I can't seem to find a rubber to work! Bad part is we threw away the old rubber months ago. I thought that a factory rubber, discontinued of course, would work... I had read somewhere that the rubber from 73-93 was the same so I ordered a used one out of North Dakota and the groove for the window is very wide and won't lock onto the windown I have.... from pictures I have seen the outside of my frame looks the same as a factory sliding glass. Am I wrong on the years of the rubber? Has anyone else run across this and found a solution? I would really like to keep this slider since I spent a month polishing it....lol .. any help would be greatly appreciated

I have the dimensions of my frame and opening if that will help and I can also email pics if needed

If the truck had the factory sliding window with the aluminum frame it may not work with a full glass window.

I'm not trying to put in a full glass I'm trying to put back in the aluminum framed slider that was in it. It is an older model aftermarket slider from a company called prestige

How thick is your slider were it fits in the gasket. Not specific to your truck. But back then I think factory sliders were thick and used a special gasket. The aftermarkets were usually thin and used the regular glass gasket for guys that wanted to add a slider to their truck.

72-4 the rear window is narrower than in a 75-93 truck, I may have a used early rubber, will try to remember to look tomorrow.

The edge of the frame has a lip but it's not very wide, maybe slightly wider than a sheet of glass. ..

There has been some discussion on this here, some saying the glass from all years will interchange, that the opening was changed slightly but will work, etc.

But, as far as my personal knowledge, the glass thickness changed, maybe around the body change, '81, newer glass being thinner.

On my '85, it had a factory slider, with a broken glass when I got it, and I got a solid glass from an '88 to replace it, used the rubber that was around the slider.

I junked the old slider ...

The other day I bought an interior from a '92, and got the factory slider, it has a rubber that protrudes outward to hold the slider, I took it all just in case, but haven't installed it. To me it looks odd, but maybe the reason was to eliminate water leaks?

As far as I know the aftermarket sliders were designed to have the lip same thickness as the factory glass, and would use the original rubber.

I am thinking you need to measure the thickness of the flange, and get the rubber that corresponds, early or late type?

It is possible the slider could have come from a later truck, or the rubber could have, or who knows on these old things.

When you say lip width, do you mean the thickness? Like 3/16" or something?
