I found a culprit in my braking system..my check valve failed...I really had to step on the brakes to stop. I put in a new cheapo one I had laying around..

It's about time I set up my dual quads again. I have 16"Hg in Park and 9"Hg in Drive...I have a 440, Dual 500 Edelbrocks. Orange springs, stock jets on both carbs. I run a progressive linkage. Second one kicks in at 1900rpm. I run a mechanical dizzy. 16º initial with an 18º bushing bushing (black one)

My cam isnt crazy, I have a 280/480 Isky megaCam

What does YOUR dual quad setup idle at in Park and in Drive.

Thanks

i'm using a little more cam than you have, engle k65 solid. i have an 8 degree plate in the distributor, use both light and heavy springs, primary advance is all in by 1800rpm with a 35 degree total by 2500rpm. i use a 9 degree vacuum advance with a .030" shim rtv'd to limit the travel, 50 degrees total with vacuum advance all in. the engine idles 8"-9" in gear, about 700rpm (stock street hemi converter). idle in nuetral is 15" at 950rpm.

the carbs are 600's, 1406 rear/1405 front, with progressive linkage. primary jets are .096" with 68x47 rods and orange springs. idle jets have been opened to .036". secondary jets are ..095". secondary air valve have been lightened. i use .093" needle and seats. tried .110" and didn't like it.

this combo seems to start, drive and run fairly good. the only issue i had on the tune was getting the vacuum advance compatible with the rear carb. that was an education.

so far we are more or less the same...I have the MSD Timing advance dial on my dash so I can turn my 34º into 50º to start easier and then back it down as she warms up for further gains.

440 with tunnel ram with dual 500 Carters, currently with an MP 528

34-35 degrees of timing as soon as the car fires up, no vacuum advance with one to one throttle linkage.

Not sure what the idle speed in park or drive is, just set by ear. I'll try to check for you with a meter in a day or two.

You will want to decrease your advance to make it easier to start. The other thing that affects your vacuum besides cam and ignition advance is your compression ratio.
