I know AndyF has dynoed a Holley 80805 "True 950" carb w/ good results. Who else has both dyno and/or on-track test results for that model of carb?

Thanks Von.

My flat tappet 428 small block was dyno tested with a 80513 HP1000, that was owned by the shop 615 hp/ 540 tq.

I brought it home and installed an 80676 Ultra HP 950, which, I guess is a hybrid version with the old HP main body, and the ultra metering plates and base plate...and is now no longer available.

I love it for street driving, 12 mpg, very responsive to tuning, but 10.49 at 124 is the best. I think MPH should be higher, so track tuning leaves a bit to be desired.

First it was the 80496...
then they added screw-in MAB & IAB w/ the 80496-1...
then (for a while) they added BLP-made fully-tunable billet metering blocks & a billet base plate as the original "Ultra HP" 80676, all while staying w/ the 1.375" venturi x 1.75" throttle config.

The 80805 is the recent aluminum Ultra HP "950" with the 1.60" venturi and all the latest tricks.

Is Andy the only person on Moparts who has even tried one of these things? They were all over the magazines when Holley introduced the aluminum Ultra HP series in late 2011.

I loaned mine to the dyno shop that I work with. They've dynoed a bunch of higher hp engines with that carb over the last couple of years. It works great and it usually makes more power than a customer carb. It even makes more power than the big Braswell carbs that most customers have. (customers are mostly circle track guys).

But the carb hasn't ever been on the street or down the track. I might put it on my car this summer. I currently have a 950HP on my car so I guess it would be comparison. My car has a 512 inch low deck and I don't think I need the true 950. But your car might be able to use it. My engine is big, but it is a very mild build with a hyd roller cam and factory HP exhaust manifolds.

Assuming you're talking about the 4825... would be interesting to know which build those are since they are available in three venturi sizes and three different throttle bore sizes. I picked one up to play with on my W8 until I end up going to a 4500. My particular piece has the 1.48 venturi and 1.79 throttle bores. It would be fun to throw it on Billy's ride and play with it. smile

I actually bought an 80805 recently, but everything I can find seems to indicate that it's better suited to larger cubic inches or more serious combinations than my 450-ish street/strip deal.

It's really BIG for a 4150... eek

and that 80805 has 1.75 throttle blades.... just like my 9380 850 annular that just never seemed to work on anything it was bolted to. No info on venturi size on that one. carb expert.... I'm not. but they are fun to play with!

Wonder what that would be like on the street at and below 3000 rpm. The cross sectional area of the venture is probably the same as the throttle bore including the shaft and plate.

Brad's mill and 3000rpm and below.... betting my BG 750 would be a champ on that one.
