Thank you! That's exactly what I needed to know. Thanks for your help
Your 1/4" ID line is really called 5/16"... we use the OD when talking or buying line/tubing

I put calipers on it and it did measure .3125 5/16o.d. and .250 1/4 I.d. I wasn't sure what measurement was needed . Thanks
That was so you know what to ask for if you buy tubing/line... its OD on that stuff(including exhaust tubing)

How much horsepower will 5/16 line support? Or is 3/8 the minimum? Thanks!
You would have to flow your line and find out... bends in the tubing reduce flow... then once you find out the flow you can figure .5PPH per HP.. that will give you a decent idea

Chris, I'm not telling anyone what to do, just relaying my personal experience. Last weekend my 3815lb 67 Belvedere went 119.5 Mph at Las Vegas. 440, 750 DP, and a 73 N20 jet in a big shot plate. I have stock 5/16 tank p/u, and stock 5/16 line. Carter mechanical pump and a T to carb, and solenoid. I don't know why it clears the trap without nosing over, but it does. Somebody smarter than I can guess at the Horsepower.

he didn't mention the "hot" part and the DA was 5K or better for most of the weekend except for the early am runs. 2280 actual altitude.
Is that your red thing next to Billy's Belvedere?

"The Red Thing" is my son's 76 Fury Sport, James! That's pretty much the response from everyone in Vegas, no one knew what is was! It was his first outing, and Thermo-quad woes held him to pedestrian speeds. I'm letting him learn on his own terms, and he's as hard headed as his old man...

Cool, no disrespect intended, I just saw that big car and thought it was a good opportunity to mess with Jay lol. As for the topic, I've been mid 11's with 3/8" line to the mechanical pump and then the old 5/16" line up to the carb in a 3700# Roadrunner with 4.30 gears and a 29" tall tire.

The reason I say flow your system is that I have seen some badly bent lines come out of the factory... bad enough that the production car wouldnt run at WOT.. being that I worked in the fuel&exhaust lab I was sent out to dealerships on many occasions to find problems... this one car had a bad line on it but it wasnt the only one I seen over the years... a minor kink will really decrease the flow... and being that the ID is already 1/4" it doesnt take much to reduce the area

I still have a 5/16th pickup in the tank on my car. Its been 11.18@120.5 in good air which works out to about 500HP. Its always had rock solid fuel pressure in the traps. Thats with a holley blue pump mounted in front of the passenger side spring hanger, it goes to -6 line from the pump forward. It was meant to be temporary when I had nitrous on the car for a little while with a 360 even more clapped out than the one i have now. That was 14 years ago, the nitrous has been gone for 13 years lol.
