hey gang..
I have a pesky rear main seal leak on the HEMI. It is more noticeable now that I'm putting some miles on it. is there an additive to help with the rear main seal? I don't know of the seal is robe or rubber. The motor was built when i bought it some time ago.

thanks in advance..

There are no good additives known for that, don't waste your time or money on SNAKE OIL First thing to do is make sure where the oil leak is coming from, main seal, oil pan, cam plug or one of oil galley plug in the rear Let us know what you find out If it is the main seal the flex plate will have oil spraying outwards on it from the crankshaft flange out

Replace the seal. It's not that bad of a job. Don't even have to crack the mains to lower the crank any as some suggest.

x 99 on calling much of that product "snake oil"...

I just went through A LOT of it(Lucas) on my leaky rack on my daily-driver hoping it would clear it up. It just got worse ... the rack is changed now ....

replace it,if you are creative,it can be done in the car.not real easy but doable.they used to make a tool called a sneaky pete that pulls the 1/2 seal around the crank, but you still may need to loosen the mains to make it easier...........

SFI 25.5 depends,no leak,even at 213 mph....

If the motor was "built" one could assume its a rubber seal, which would be easier to change. But brake clean the s**t out of it and make sure to stagger the ends. I always surface the face of the seal retainer.

the new issue of mopar collectors guide [may 2014 , page 14] has a one piece rear main from "fast fish auto parts". [www.Fastfishautoparts.com] don't know much about this. may be worth looking in to ?
