Mopar Performance big block aluminum Wedge heads with 2.14 intake valves and 1.81 exhaust..Dual springs and bronze guides..What would a new pair go for and are they any good for a street strip motor around 600 horse..?
Anyone have experience with them and anyone do any mods for better performance??

1972 Road Runner / GTX 440 4spd Dana 3.54 Just about to turn 26K original miles..

A boat, a GMC truck, some Craftsman Tools, LOTS of Zombie Protection, and a few Goldfish..

If you love someone set them free..
If they come back it means nobody else wanted them either..!!

i have a set of Stage 6 heads that needed a sh!tload of work to make them more user friendly. personally i wouldn't buy these heads again, i'd stick to Indy heads, so much easier to work on & only needed a small amount to grinding to fix the flaws.

Why not just use Edelbrocks for 600HP?

Assuming you are talking about buying new heads and not scrounging a pair of Stage VIs, which are no longer made.....

http://www.manciniracing.com/bigblalcocyh.html

MP heads which are Edelbrocks with straight plugs, $889.95 each

Edelbrock heads, which have angled plugs otherwise same as above, 809.95 each

Either head will get you 600hp pretty much straight out of the box.

There's a set of USED 440Source heads in the Moparts Classifieds right now.......for a pretty good price if they haven't sold already.

Personally, after looking at a sectioned Indy head, with the revised intake port runner and taller valve, look for a good set of used on here. Got a smokin' deal a couple years ago.

Mopar has sold a bunch of different castings of BB Aluminuum heads,Stage V,Stage V1 and the current models, which ones are you asking about?

I cant see a head that flows 260-270 (maybe a hair more depending on the individual casting) to make an honest 600hp (in street strip form as the OP wants), depending on whose dyno...I know what they claim they flow, I also have seen what they flow on a "more trusted" bench.

Check out Hughes' flow number pages. Then call him up and tell him he's full of crap for measuring 282 - 291 on stock ports of various heads.

I would gladly call Hughes and tell him he is full of crap. Oh wait...Ive already done that....a few times in the mid to late 90s. I quickly learned that they would/will get as little of my $$$ as possible.

It isnt all that hard to verify that by MPH numbers that the RPMs "Most likely" dont flow mid 290s. Granted it appears that the older RPMS had better flow than later castings. There is a bench in vermont that seems to be a great baseline. In fact..this bench has had some of the aforementioned Hughes flowed heads on his bench and they seem to be 20-30 high. This bench in vermont's customers cars seem to run the number they should based on flow. One OOTB RPM port on this bench went 252 @.600...

No need to get uptight, just my worthless opinion.

The Mopar 452 aluminum heads are basically and Eddy RPM head and work as good as the Eddy's. But I believe the Eddy's are cheaper. Myself I use the basic EZ heads and I would guess my pump gas street combo makes about 600 flywheel hp by the et and weight. Ron
