Why could you not get anything bigger than a 383 in a 71 challenger conv., but could in a 71 cuda conv.??

Right, there were no 71 R/T convertibles built, so the N code was the biggest engine available . There are "rumors" of 2 '71 Hemi Challenger convertibles, but, if legit, both are going to be JH27R1B . A JH27R1B is impossible and stupid to think something could even exist. Not trying to bash but that is like saying there was a 72 challenger ragtop (factory not the mod squad cars)

And yet rumors of two 71 JH27R1 cars have persisted since the seventies....Fact is the full VIN on one is supposed to be JH27R1B188579, This from a National Car Club Magizine dated Jan 81.

Repeat after me """NEVER SAY NEVER" with mopar. I've seen a V-code 70 charger with A/C and cruise control...Special brackets so a/c pump would not hit aircleaner.
I think every brand has their exceptions. But did you see any documentation on this car you describe?

Well, simply because "Challys" are rather effeminate cars and 'Cuda were quite manly. Mopar correctly deduced that the 'Cuda drivers could handle the power and the "Chally" people (boys or women) likely could not! Yea that's right Give me your best shot! BRING it on!
Happy new year to all! and ALL E-Body's ROCK!

Sounds a little like someone who resents a car that was patterned after their particular personality. Does this mean you will sell your Challenger or keep it in an effort to further solidify your image?

Happy new year Dave! If you peruse my post a little more carefully its pretty obvious I was trying to get a rise out of some Challenger owner (and guess what? Someone took the bait ) Don't own a Challenger, never have, no reason I wouldn't like to though. All E-bodys ROCK.
