Hello everyone, I have what seems like a simple question but, I am struggling. I have a 1967 Satellite that I have just started disassembly for prep for paint. Anyway, I cannot get the rear window trim to come off. I have a trim tool, the windsheild trim came off with no problem. The rear trim seams so tight that in places I cannot even slide the tool. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to removing this trim?
Thanks,
Mike

Try and work a 2-3 inch plastic scraper in to lift the piece up and then work the removal tool in. Good luck
Don't use anything metal or you'll

Thanks for the responses. I must be doing something wrong. I can get the tool under the trim, slide it down and feel the retaining clip but, I cannot get it to release. What am I doing wrong? What is the proper way to use the trim tool?

It prob. has some black tar like sealant that has the trim stuck. My RR was like that and I damaged the trim, so be careful.
Be very patient. Use the plastic wedge as suggested. I have had good luck trying to drag some of the butyl out with the trim removal tool, or more like cutting it. Also, I have had good luck moving around to different clips. It seems like once you get one to release the others seem to go easier. I just removed it from a 68 coronet and I bet I spent over an hour on it. Another hour at least trying to remove the glass. LOL I am pretty slow tho.....

Easiest way is to run a sharp box cutter all the way around cutting completely through the gasket.Slide the blade in between the gasket and glass cutting outwards towards the trim.Pull the hunk of gasket off and then you can see the clips and release them without mangling the trim. This only works if you are planning on replacing the gasket.
