A little confusion on the M88 as I've read it's a molding on 'Cudas

could be, I'm not much of an E body expert. Now that you mention it, it doesn't make much sense to have M88 and the longitudinal stripe code at the same time...Lets call that M88 decode wrong and go with: Decklid moulding treatment.

It's 1 of 88 US spec. 340 4bbl 4-spd 'Cuda convertibles for 1970.

It's 1 of 34 US spec. EV2 - "tor-red" 'Cuda convertibles for 1970.

It's a desirable combination of one of the most desirable musclecars from the late '60s/early '70, what were you hoping it to be? The "Holy Grail"?

Nope, just curious if this one had any oddball options

I suppose the 3.91s weren't too common on converts

Always wanted to have Galen do his thing to see if there were any others like it just never got around to it j

BS27H0B - US spec. w/3.91s = 19

The car is "typical" in the manner of someone's impression of the perfect combination of OPTIONS on a 'Cuda convertible. You've seen a clone that looks like this, but not a real car.

#6 most popular '70 Cuda convertible color - 20 colors were STANDARD or "hi-impact" (unique would be "sandpebble beige" w/green body side mouldings, would that be better or worse?).

The "000" for the start of the Vehicle Order Number would be unique in the sense that there can only be 001-999 that follow it (any other first three digits would have the same limitations "002" for example). I'll ASSUME it was early in the model year that these order forms would've been available and/or used.

I know of 3 others between 000750-000999: two 440+6 hardtops w/axle packages (FY1 & FC7) & an EB5 383 4bbl Gran Coupe. Not quite random - but it's just a number.

If you don't think this car is special there's something wrong with you. It appears to be a very desirable car from many standpoints.

If being an EV2 Tor-Red 1970 'Cuda 340 Convertible four speed car isn't "special" enough for you ..I don't know what to tell ya .

Of course it's special enough. I bought it to street race with and knew it was rare so I pulled the 440 out of it and put the 340 back in it and stored it. The 440 went into a 68 Road Runner that was beat on, hit twice and banged up pretty good.

It's the numbers that 6bblgt is giving me that I've never heard before. Where are you getting this info from?

Thanks!

Most of the time those options numbers come out of Galen Govier's O & A reports which were based on production percentages , and the basic numbers are found in the white books of course.

the above numbers can be found in:

Chrysler Corp. tracked options by percentages on a document titled (for 1970 model year): "F-SERIES OPTION and ACCESSORIES REPORT" (also know as an "AC-30 REPORT"?). A number of bits and pieces of this yearly ~1,000 page have been circulating in the hobby for years, I believe at one time these were available from Chrysler Historical.

IIRC, These reports (or portions of) are what GG used to create his body-line "GTS Option & Accessory Reports".

Galen also has a one model specific ~50 page "1970 Plymouth 'Cuda Option and Accessories Report" that he released in 2001.
