Hey all,
I believe this is a well-beaten question; If I'm going to change the stock front drums to disc brakes on my 2-circuit '67 Satellite (but keep the drums on the rear) I understand I need to switch to a different Master Cylinder..

Is there a commonly used part number for the "disc-drum" Master Cylinder to replace the original "drum only" MC?

I'm hoping the part number doesn't depend on my choice of front disc set up.

Thank you.

Is your current setup manual or power?

If it is manual you would want a 15/16" piston MC if possible (sometimes not so easy to find). This will give you the most line pressure for the least pedal effort. In any case the smaller the better.

My brake swap experience is more with C-bodies and if you are swapping from power drum to power disc, you need to change the booster to a dual diaphragm disc booster too. The drum booster doesn't have enough ooomph for discs. I would assume the same is true for a B-body.

Piston size on the MC is a little less critical with power assist. You are more apt to wind up with too much brake instead of not enough.

Here is a link to a chart in the tech archives.

http://www.moparts.org/Tech/Archive/brake/14.html

I see it doesn't mention a 15/16" MC but I see them referred to all the time in disc brake threads.

Hi guys, Doctor Diff has the 15/16 master cylinder readily available.

If this is a "restoration" and part numbers/casting numbers is an important factor, I believe the Bendix Master Cylinder Casting #2225621 would be the correct one to use.

If the OEM correct unit is not a priority then pretty much any of the replacement units will work fine. RockAuto shows a CARDONE Part # 101475 as a replacement for '67 Coronet and Satellite with disk/drum brakes but there are dozens of places including some vendors here where you can find a disk/drum MC. Its not rocket science, just do a little research and pick the one that works for you.

The Fenco 1475, Napa/Cardone 10-1475 is a good choice, I use it often on power disc/drum Mopar applications, and it's a great candidate for 4 wheel power disc swaps using the factory 70-4 pin style calipers and SSBBC or Dr Diff Cobra rear disc kits....Art here's the factory listing of Disc/Drum Masters and their respective applications, you didn't specify if you need the lines facing the engine or the side fender well, as well as power or manual master requirement the 1475 has the lines facing the engine

I highly recommend switching over to a modern aluminum/plastic master cylinder. Less weight and it gets rid of the cast iron rust in the reservior.

DoctorDiff is the place to pick up the modern MC along with a firewall adapter.

Sorry it took me a while to get back here.
Thanks for all the very useful info guys - it's everything I could've wanted to know at this point.

The current MC is manual. OEM appearance is desirable but not critical. The current tubes face the fender. I'm a good pipe bender/flarer so can change as needed. I'll use your info to decide how to proceed.

Very grateful for your replies,
