I will be buying a set of Goodyear Polyglas GTs for my 70 Cuda soon. I know I want L60-15s for the rear, and I think I want F60-15s for the front. Will this front tire size rub? I don't think E60-15s are needed considering it is not an AAR, but if someone has experience with either size, please let me know and I will consider it before I buy them.

The main reason I prefer F60s over E60s is becasue of the sidewall size considering I am using L60s in rear, which would be a closer sidewall size match.

Also, who is your preferred tire supplier for Polyglas GTs?

Thanks!

Kelsey Tire in MO is the manufacturer for Goodyear reproductions. There are a few posts on Moparts with vendors other than Kelsey.

1970 & '71 HEMI'Cudas had F60-15 POLYGLAS GTs on all 4 corners (most had their front fenders factory modified for added clearance)

Any other 'Cuda with 15" tires had E60-15s on the front.

The tread width on the F60-15 VS. the E60-15 causes the clearance concern. Many have run F60-15s with STOCK fenders without any issues.

That was on the original concept drawing board w/rolled "TRANS AM" fenders!

Good info so far.

Any pictures of Cudas with F-60s? And L-60s?

Is the L60 the largest bi ply that was used on muscle cars back then?

Anything & everything was used on "muscle" cars back then - you have to be more specific '60s * '70s * '80s?..... (STOCK - G60-15 was the biggest)

N50-15s were made by a variety of manufacturers - if those were NOT big enough, there were drag, dirt track & NASCAR spec'd tires available.

Oooooh! That's NICE! LOVE the color combo & elastomeric on the front in black! Are those G60's F&R? Also, what engine?

If you are going to go with L-60's (& no OE's used them BTW), you'll need a minuimum of 8" wide wheels. In my opinion, L's are a little too wide for most Mopars - they will have clearance issues.

That was my old Cuda, now owned by another member and all around great guy Glenn.
It has F 60-15 front and L 60-15 rear. 15x7 and 15x8 in that picture.
I added the bumper, it's a factory TX9 w/T5 interior 440+6 4 speed Super Track Pack car.
About 70% original paint and all matching #'s.
One of the tightest E-Bodies I've ever been in.

I have the same wheel size and will go with the sizes you noted.
Thanks!

Mopar wizard,

Hey, the cuda looks good with the G-60's. Are you running G-60's on the front too? And if so, any rubbing / fitment issues, and are your fenders curled?

Also, what size rims front and rear, and backspace?

Does anyone know if F-60s and G-60's will fit on 15 x 8 rims?

G60x15s were and option back then so yes they would fit the wheels that came on the cars. There was supposed to be a spacer under the rebound bumper to limit suspension travel on the cars that had G60s.

Interesting on the suspension bumper. Didn't know that. Is that available aftermarket? So that means the height of the tire is the problem, not so much the width I assume. My car will have both heavy duty torsion bars and anti sway bars so I'm thinking that may limit the wheel travel quite a bit.

Yes, the G-60's would fit the wheels that came on the car, but 15 x 8 was not a wheel size option, at least to my knowledge.
