My hood props worked fine until this arctic cold weather came though. Now the hood won`t stay up. Is it normal for cold weather to cause this or did they just go bad.

Cold weather makes the gas lighter. You most likely only have one bad. Even on a good day the hood wont stay open with one bad one.

Do they just pop off or is their a retainer clip? I never had one off before.

clip on each end. get a board to hold the hood open high. pop the clips with a screwdriver. replace with new ones. should take longer to cut a board to fit the hood to hold it open, than it will to replace the lifts.

Just get a second set of hands to hold the hood while you pop them off.

Pair of vise grips.

Don't put off changing them. Cost me a radiator and a new a/c condenser fan assembly when the hood came crashing down and there was some stuff in the way.
