I am looking to upgrade from my 2000 Quad Cab 2500 V10 to a 2010+ 2500, my main reason is to gain more back seat room for the kids. We plan on getting a travel trailer in the 30 foot range next year for family outings. I have been looking and I can either get a fairly low mileage Hemi or a 6.7 Cummins with a few more miles for what I am looking to spend. I know the diesel would be nice on long trips with the camper, but I have read all sorts of horror stories about the emissions stuff on them. This wouldn't be my daily driver, but would see daily use in the winter when my Charger is parked. My drive to work, and anywhere really, is 17 miles of all highway. I like the idea of the diesel, but do you guys think a Hemi might be a better choice?

I drove a 2007 3500 quad cab dually all over the country towing and did have emissions issues, but this was the first year for the 6.7 engine. My biggest problems were the junk G56 6-speed transmissions, went through three of them, and also a South Bend clutch that was junk, thought I had upgraded but I was wrong. If you go diesel buy a 2010 or newer automatic.
The funny thing about science is that if you change one miniscule parameter you change the entire outcome to the way you want it.

if you are going to by a 6.7 do 1 of 2 things 1-if you get a 2007-2012 plan on doing a full delete or you will have egr problems. 2- get a 2013-up with def and drive the he!! out of it and don't worry.
