Did the optional Motorola AM/FM mono radio in a 71 B-body (in my case a Roadrunner) just have the single front dash speaker or was there also a single rear shelf speaker? Also where can I get a correct impedance (4 ohm?) rear shelf speaker for this radio? Thanks.

The rear speaker was an option so..Single front or single front and single rear with fader switch .
Correct speakers will be 8 ohm .
You can guy correct 8 ohm replacements from turnswitch.com .

A modern 4 ohm speaker will overheat the radios output transformer .
Always stick with the correct 8 ohm speakers on these 60's-early 70's radios .

OK...

I got a question for you...

1971 AM/FM stereo, OEM, B-body...

I understand the radio puts out 10 watts...

What's a compatible 'modern' speaker???

Their isn't a compatible "modern" speaker because all modern speakers produced now are generally 4 ohm .
Your options are to have your originals re-coned , or buy a reproduction 8 ohm from turnswith.com
They offer just about every speaker size for the 60's-70's muscle car era in the original 8 ohm impedance .
