Anyone get the lifetime warranty on their newer Ram? Saw it's still available for my 1500, and since I plan on keeping it for awhile, might take advantage of it.

Just curious if anyone got it and knew of any gotchas to it..

You must have a five year checkup. Be sure and let them service the teams and rear end. My son has been changing his own oil and I hope they honor our receipts. It would be best if I had an oil change place because they keep good records.

Thanks all.. I put lot of mileage on my vehicles, (my beater has hit the 299,999 limit on the odometer.) With the way newer vehicles are that only the dealer can replace certain things, figured it might be a no brainer.

Only thing I didn't like was if a part is considered bad due to normal wear and tear, it's not covered. So if the trans grenades at 140K, they could technically say its part of it's normal lifespan.

That's not how it was explained to me. It covers anything "mechanical" some 5500 parts of car. If the repair is as much or more than value of vehicle, they write a check for value of vehicle. I had a similar warranty on my 07 van but it only went to 100000 miles. No issues with claims ad far as repairs, but chrysler screwed me as far as getting money back for trip interruption when tranny went on me while on vacation. 4000.00trans cost me 150.00 deductible

When I first heard about it, I thought "awesome, if the trans starts to act up again at 200K, it'll get replaced". Then I read this on Page 5 of the contract:

THE PLAN WILL NOT COVER, OR APPLY TO LOSS OR EXPENSE RESULTING FROM:
• Repairs or replacement of any component covered by any of the Vehicle manufacturer warranties, Certified Warranty, part
manufacturer warranties or recall policies; roadside assistance, loaner vehicles or other services which are eligible to be
covered by the vehicle’s manufacturer warranty or marketing programs;
• Repairs required as a result of other than a manufacturing defect (such as a design defect or normal wear);

I'll probably go for the 100K one then, as anything past 100K can be considered normal wear and tear..

Think you should be good, then the manufacturer will need to say how long something will last...

I looked at the lifetime for my Wrangler. Still have some time to consider it. One negative I see is that it is not transferable like the other extended warranties. So there is no help in resale value like other extended warranties.

Also at 7 years I believe the roadside assistance and loan car part goes away and once an estimated repair exceeds the value of the vehicle they will simply give you that amount and write the vehicle off somehow.

So if they did a cr@p design or it was designed to fail at 100K + one mile, it's not covered?

This is one of the reasons why I hate insurance. They will have 20 pages of legalese, but even though they probably also have a actuarial list of what is or isn't covered, they will NOT provide it. Instead, they will send your claim into limbo and await an answer...

Our line guy just put a new 3.8 in a Wrangler with 178K miles that was covered under the "lifetime" deal they had a few years ago. Guy had consistent service records and it was a slam dunk. On the other side of the fence, last year we had a Chrysler 200 with 38K miles that the cams seized in. That claim was denied. Customer could not produce service records..... of course the fact that the mopar oil filter still had the factory stamp on it would have buried him anyway.
