So I got a friend with a 2011 Ram 2500 looking for an engine (crappy powdered metal rod snapped), is there one that swaps directly in that is any upgrade? Looks like the same part number for 2010-2012 (the only local used ones cost as much as a brand new short block and heads from dodge dealer), will an 09 or 2013 and newer bolt in without changing a bunch of stuff? What does it take to drop in a newer 6.4?
I don't mind swapping intakes and such on a used engine but don't want to mess with heads cranks...

I am trying to do the same with an '09 1500, same as yours... crappy rod broke, went thru the block, so I'm looking for a block, 5.7 vvt, or 6.4 w/ vvt, still trying to decide or what I find...a reman 5.7 shortblock is 1100-1200, hoping I can find a decent block, then stroke w/good rods, and a set of 6.4 injectors...I think...
