I am trying to help a friend with their '99 Voyager. The IC is completely dead and the CEL is on. He told me the problem started out being intermittent, but now is constant. He initially took it to the dealer, and here is what the repair ticket says: "Found codes P1698, P1695, P0125, P0743. Checked powers and grounds at TCM, all good. TCM BCM nonresponsive. Further diagnosis required."

I started with the battery. The dealer had cleaned the terminals well, and the battery tested good for me. The only code present was the P0743 (TCC circuit). I cleared the code, and when I started the van, the CEL was on immediately, and the P0743 was back. That's all the further we went, as it's about 20*F here, and my garage is unheated.

The van starts and runs well. Has anyone seen these particular symptoms? Would they point to cracked solder joints on the IC? Any advice appreciated!

common problem, you need to disassemble the cluster and resolder the joints. been a while since I did one,I believe it's the connections from the main plug into the circuit board. Do them all. tighten up the connector terminals also. the other thing that caused this was the body control module (B.C.M) 9 out of 10 times it was the cluster connections though.

Pull the board off the back of the cluster. Flip it over and inspect the solder joints for the main connector on the board. As stated they are probably cracked. The first gen Neons did the same thing. Just resolder the joints and you should be good to go. I've done this twice on my Neon.

There was an issue with BCMs years ago that would cause instrument cluster inop issues.
Poroblem is I don't remember what years the effected was.

Look under the dash to the left of the steering column . If the BCM is there, unplug it and let it sit for a few minutes , then reconnect .
