I've got an old 800 double pumper which probably is not large enough. Will swapping to a proform 950 main help out? I also think the 800 base plate is smaller than the 850DP or am I wrong? Carb guru out there with some advice? Its for my e body, with stage 6 heads, small roller and its a heavy car.

"Carb Guru" at you service.....Yes the 800CFM carb you have has a 1 11/16 base plate on it....You will need a 1 3/4 base plate for the 950 body swap you want to do so it lines up correctly.... ..Merry Christmas, Jesse @ BIGS!!

500" I would go with at least a 1050.
Depending if there is any work to the heads.
A lot of head work,
An 1150 will be in your future

I would like to stay away from the dominator as a spacer will not work, too high. Thanks for the info on the base plate.

I'm not sure what the aftermarket 950 bodys flow, the Holley 950HP will flow around 880 CFM on a flow bench. The Holley 850 double pumper with the choke plate removed will flow close to 920 CFM, depending on the carb. 500 C.I. will respond to a bigger carb better than a stock stroke BB will but alomost any carb will work. The size depends on how mauch HP you want to make and the driveability you want to end up with Think twice befroe buying

Not sure what your build is....but I ran an 850 dbbl annular Holley for years in my 498. Switched to a Carb Shop 1050 and a Stage VI 4500 intake and picked up four tenths and nearly 5 mph. I run ported standard window VI's and an Ultradyne NF69 mech cam (.640 lift).

Whats the scoop on the holley 4150 based hp 1000 carb ? Good or bad . Does it flow 1000 more or less ?

I have a 1040 for the strip on mine (493cid).
(A friend of mine bought a 408 in street trim and it was delivered with a 950 carb).

My engine has MW port with porting done. .630 nitrous cam and 11 to 1 compression. It will see alot of street use. Looks like I will buy another carb. Will the 1000 actually flow that much?
