Looking to drop the consumption of juice in the car, maybe save a few lenses from melting or getting discolored. Mainly the center console lights, the dome, the map light, the brake lights, reverse lights, and the front turn signals (what else is left? I dunno)
Anyone know of an outfit to buy just the package deal?
They say to buy amber LEDs for the front since the lenses are clear on a 69 Charger and to buy RED LEDS for the brake lights because they will come out more red and brighter. What ya'll think?

Got a whole box of LED lights from superbrite, however I didn't use them. You have to put an inline resistor to make the turn signals work and on the brake/turn bulbs that means two resistors plus the front add two more. The resistors they sell are bulky ugly looking things that clip into the wiring, I'm waiting till they produce a bulb with the resistor built in. I did use the ones for the side marker lites/ dash gages since they didn't require the resistor. Nobody sells a flasher for a mopar that will work without the resistors.
I used 4 of these on the tail/brake lights on my 70 road runner. I don't know if these have resisters built in or something, but my blinkers and flashers work just fine...

I was worried if they would be bright enough and throw off enough light, and I couldn't tell a real difference between these and the normal 1157's. Prior to switching out to these LED's when I was at idle in gear with headlights on and stepping on the brakes, my volt meter would drop to about 13. With nothing more than swapping in the LED's my volt meter stays solid at 14. So there is definately a noticeable differnce in the power draw.

On the site it asks for "Wide" & "Narrow" option. Im guessing this has to do with some dimensions. What the maximum number of LEDs you can have on an 1157 type bulb for it to properly go into a tail light housing?
I didnt know that they made instrument cluster LEDs as well. I may have to look into those as well. Can they still be run on the dimmer switch or is it a one brightness, and thats it?
Definitely going to get some spares for the toolbox but keep the incandescents in the trunk of the car.

You can find 2-prong style flashers for LEDs on internet, I sourced one for a friend last year (I don't remember the supplier though, just search for '2-prong led flasher'). My friend ended up reinstalling the incandescent lightbulbs though (not enough power on the stop lights).
On your other post, you also mention going HIDs for the headlamps. I just have one thing to say to that : Don't use H4 HIDs! H4 lamps are dual-filament, HIDs are not. Some attempt to duplicate the H4 low/high beam function with a moving collar around the bulb, or by moving the bulb itself in a bushing. Better use H1s or H7s since you have a 4-light system (or better yet, good wiring, relays, and good-quality halogen H4s, 55W for low/high on the exterior lenses, and 85 to 100W on the high-beam only interior lens if you need that). Way better than aftermarket HIDs in my opinion.

Maybe I'll buy one replacement 1157 LED bulb, one instrument cluster bulb, one reverse light and one front turn signal. If they are bright enough with my current electrical components in the system then I'll complete the set.
I dont think my headlight housing's will accommodate an H1 or an H7 bulb. Sounds like a whole different beast of a headlight enclosure. AFAIK the only replacements for the 5001/5006 sealed beams are the H4 lamps themselves.

Yowza!
This is why I ask these questions. Maybe the LED focal point is narrow, perhaps a "wider" focus is needed. Im guessing it needs a 270 degree sweep of light. I should look into the LED 3rd brake light but my rear window has a really dark tint to it, youmight not even see it well. I'll still switch out the center console, dome, map light and turn signals on the front. That has to help with some kind of draw....I'll get high intensity filament 1157's for the brake lights

i bought all led's 1157 for my charger, put them in the taillights on one side, then waited until it was dark, turned them on....and decided to take them back to the store!!!! i guess nothing really replaces the good old bulb!!! after shelling out almost $100 in bulbs, i thought to myself, self.....that's a $100 in gas to go drive the car with!!!
my thoughts were just to put them in the tail lights for stop, running lights, and signals, because the most draw would be those items that are constantly being used, where as unless you drive with the dome lights on, there really is no advantage in my thoughts. but the difference between the bulb and leds in the taillights was night and day. and i remember these led's were not cheep, i tried both white and red in the taillights, and no matter what the bulb filled the taillight lenses with light much much better than the led's. after about an hour of trying them, i just gave up and returned everything!!!! i did find a electronic flasher that worked perfectly even with led's in all the lights (tail lights, front markers), it was about $12 at the parts store.
