How good or bad is the air speed with that much port volume Brett?
Thanks for the pics.

Air speed is still fast this port was on the 2011 engine masters 411ci 535 of TQ at3500 rpm.
In the big picture the port is still small 3" at port opening

Over 320feetper second down center of port

380-425FPS over short turn.

You can have large lazy port or larg port that is designed properly that for the most part has a much more Homogeneous flow floor to roof

I suspect the SpeedTalk gurus would say the fps #s over the SSR are too high, since they seem to claim 350 as the max during multiple threads I've read "over there."

Me? I just grind 'em and run 'em!

Well, not exactly.

That's pushrod pinch area, Mopar designed them to run a 550 offset rocker and Brett makes them take a 750 rocker for his port program.

I always like to hear this big lazy port vs a big well designed port kind of discussion. What makes the port to big or even to small? Depending on if we are basing this off for every engine or a particular combination. Big port on small cubes is going to need a lot of rpm to make port efficient. It might never become efficient if you can't spin it high enough. A big ci motor is different. More ci will move more air at a lower rpm vs a small ci. But it also depends on how many rpms, both engine sizes, and rpm. Rpm is cubic inches also.

How about you go check mis cross section and valve size on 360 LS3 chevy then get back to me on the large port not working on small CI or need big RPM to make it work.

A properly designed larger port for giver CI will work better than the BS high velocity small port.

And as I said this is only 3" min CS not large by todays standards.

Nice job your right 300cc cross section ain't big especially for that 472ci. I've got a set of SBC heads that have a 338cc port on a 510ci motor. Thanks for posting

Brett knows as he's had his hands on enough high performance heads but its a lot off work and know how managing and controlling air-speed in MOST of the heads out there. Even something like the set of B1 heads I am doing for my car are hard getting the short-side slowed down. But if you take the time the pay-offs are there.

Sarcasim (SP?) gets lost very quickly on the net and when it is written word rather than spoken word. The board here, like any internet board starts to become a tight nit group. Swords are draw first, questions after your diced.

Hey Brett! I sure wish they made a lot of those heads. Actually, i still wish they made them. Not that I could make use of them .... yet....
