I'ts cold, I'm bored, so I google things. Right now I'm trying to get tire/wheel ideas for my 80 step side. (soon to be a SWB) I found an old moparts post about 17" wheels. https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Number=7979661 I see where several people are running mustang bullet style wheels. I thought the center hub on the 72-84 4x2 trucks was too large, around 2 7/8". Can anybody school me on this? I don't want spacers and I'm thinking this is what they did. Maybe I'm missing something.

I think on the mustang rims a little grinding on the register hole of rim got them to fit.

I know it's close, web says 71.5mm on the truck and the wheels are 70.5mm. Not much, but it makes a difference. I wondered about having a machine shop turn the hubs down a bit. Just cleaning them up would probably do it.

it has been done so it cant be much, I only read about it and they seem to have all did it by hand with a dremmel tool or grinder opening the alum rim up slightly.

having the rotors/axle turned down would be better for the resell value on the rims later if you thinks that far into the future.

I found a set of new Mickey Thompson pro street radials, 29x15.00x15 for $450. Seems like a good deal. I need a free day to do it though. I still like that look on these trucks best.
