My 73 Cuda is B5 blue with a 2 tone black and red vinyl interior, and black vinyl roof...the original owner, whom I have met, was 18 at the time, and that's what she checked off the order form when ordering her HS Graduation present in 72/73
But Trust me, no way is that car staying with that combo <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/runaway.gif" alt="" /> AFAIK: there are NO red e-body interior components after 1970 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> Got Pics? [diff'rent strokes]whatchu'talkin'bout Willis?[/diff'rent strokes] The red in a 73 also has me puzzled

I've got an odd color combo on my 1970 Challenger. Supposedly "not recommended" by Chrysler. Sublime body with a Ledger Green stripe (white top fwiw). I don't recall if there was a V08 on the tag. I'll check.
Trying to enjoy life!

The number on a broadcast sheets are for picking parts. The Cushion line or seat line would build what ever the next broad cast sheet said to, the line worker does not care what is next it is just the next job to build and if it was purple interior the worker would not care. Been there done it. In a lot of automotive plants the sub assembly lines are not near the main line and a drag chain or a conveyor would take the parts to the main line from the subassembly line and an operator would transfer then to the vehicle. The worker that loads the interior into the vehicle would just look to see if the Numbers matched between the parts and the Vehicle. The way personal changed in the plants in 1970 and how rare a V08 is on any built no one would know or care what V08 on the line is.
The thing someone might do is circle the V08 but I bet the line worker would just look at the interior color code and built the seats. My 71 Barracuda Gran Coupe is an "available but not recommended" car. I have no broadcast sheet for it but I do have the original fender tag. BP23N1B with FE5 and brown leather interior. Fairly well optioned car with console mounted cassette deck and rear window louvers. Maybe the V08 is a 1970 only code?

Another "weird" car that is somewhat widely known about is a 1970 Challenger R/T 440+4 car that is either BL1 or DY3 with a V1W vinyl roof and red interior. It is a super rare shaker car. I think some of the cars we consider among the "available but not recommended" colours are actually cars ordered by colour blind people. They see a lot of colours differently that we do, so what looks crazy to us, actually looks completely normal to them. Has a red tail stripe too.

Shouldn't the plastic center speaker grill and the 2 outboard metal grills be red, the same as the dash pad?

I'd love the color combination if it didn't have a vinyl top. I think the white adds one too many color elements. That was my impression when I saw it at the show. Plus I am not a fan of vinyl tops.

They had a customer who ordered a yellow Impala with a burgundy interior. He couldn't talk the buyer out of it and submitted the order. They got a call from the zone office in a couple days asking "are you sure?" and they told the zone they were. When the car arrived on the transport, his father said it was the ugliest color combination he had ever seen. The buyer picked it up and was thrilled with the color combination. He was color blind.
