Anyone have any ideas what kind of corner weights(percentage)should be on a 125" altered, rigid front with a 4 link rear. Before you ask, I don't have total weight of car. Trying to help a Chevy buddy out. Thanks Beep

Its gonna depend where the engine is(fore and aft)..
I set my brothers SBC altered up with 48% front 52%
rear and 15 lbs heavy on the RR.. his is a 125" also
EDIT
I started at 15# on the RR... when it drove straight
it was 9#-10# heavy on the RR... you can adjust that
with the 4 link upper right bar

The best way I can think of for you to help him is to tell him to belive nothing he hears and only what he sees with him in the car strapped in it ready to race and then weigh it There are so many variables possible with any custom made race car like that, why take a guess

I hear you on that. This thing is way overpowered in my opinion and he isn't the driver, his step son is! I would like to help them get the car as close as possible before they shake it down this spring. Thanks, Beep

I raced fast altered's for 15 years and never once had either one of them on scales. With a solid front and a narrow track your just wasting time.

BigTime, were you just testing the launch till it left right? This car was shredding the left tire and hardly making a pattern on the right prior to redoing the 4 link (it tried ripping the lower right bracket off the rear end housing). I don't know how many pases were on the tires between rotating either. Thanks, Beep

yes you need to take baby steps if the car is not going straight. turn the top right bar in the direction you want the car to go.. Just do the shocks on the bench and make the springs the same. Do you have a anti roll bar?

No anti roll bar. The back end of this car is light weight in construction and there are no good pints for an ARB. We did build a swingarm style lower instead of lower bars while doing it (similar to the S&W racecars) to help with roll. Thanks, Beep
