Have not heard anything, is it going to happen or isn't it going to happen? The rumor that I heard was, that they ran out of $$$$$$$$. Sure hope that it does happen, that always was my favorite track because of the shade trees, but I understand that they are all gone! HEMI JOE

It's all rumors.

Track is progressing, plenty of funding and they are scheduling race dates in 2015.

It seems everything is changed or gone from the old track. I think the only thing they used is the address.
They have a projected open time in June

Since I don't have and won't get Fakebook, how about cluing all us Luddites in.

Have they done away with the 45 degree approach to the starting line, have they done away with all the waves in the drag strip itself? If they have, I might even go back over there every once in a while.

July 19th should be "Drive Like Rockford Day". R.I.P. Jimmie.

I believe the facebook page is a "public page" and therefore does not require a facebook account.
EDIT: sorry, yes it does

They have not only done away with the 45* approach and waves in the track..... they have done away with EVERYTHING!

Try checking their website..........

The entire property has been completely excavated. They have grand plans that don't resemble the old facility whatsoever.
They are turning the track around and moving the entrance to RT42. Plans show stadium style seating on both sides with a tower over the starting line.
At this point, the past year has been spent moving dirt. I believe they are currently working on drainage. They still have ALOT to do, but I believe they are getting closer to paving and construction phase.
Really amazing to see the change so far, hope they see it through (and finish it in my lifetime )

Some of the latest pics are cool thumbs

I was out there after the Columbus swap meet a few weeks ago and it sure looks like a fine race track.
