Is there a special application for using threaded inserts in fiberglass to keep them from loosening up over time?

Fiberglass fenders to a fiberglass body.

I would choose an insert specifically made for fiberglass, they have ribs or knurling to prevent them from spinning.

Thanks a lot John. I have the tool, just not the correct rivets for fiber glass. Also. Loctite makes a product called "Sherex Locsert". It has an adhesive that discharges around the outside of the insert after you install it. Ever heard of it? I know nothing about it, but I think it's for fiber glass.

I don't understand why you need something special. If you're attaching fenders, there are literally thousands of fiberglass fendered cars using standard bolts with nuts and fender washers to distribute the load. If, you're looking to eliminate the nuts or have locations where the threads are "blind" and have no access to place nuts and washers, then your question makes sense.

Exactly my problem. Poor / difficult access in many areas.

I think I would possibly try bonding nuts to the back of the panel. Those nut inserts are fine. I have used them many times, but on steel and aluminum. Fiberglass has a very low "spider" point. Meaning the glass will crack and spider-web out from pressure. Crimping those nut inserts in place could easily do this. Plus the nut inserts do not have a very large "foot print". They do not grab very much. It is dificult to get them tightly in place on steel, let alone glass. The more I think about it, the more I'd be inclined to glass some nuts and washers in place on the back sides of the panels. That is just my $1.250.

Looks a lot like what was on a 35 Plymouth I had once. Should fit 35 & 36 Plymouth car. Think Dodge was slightly different, maybe longer. Gene
