I also like the comp xe I ran a milder xe 274 h years ago it was a really nice cam I have heard good stuff about the xe 275hl. anyone here run one?
I ran a xe275hl in my 408 for a couple years. I couldn't get it to hook and Im not an expert on the 4spd at the strip but it consistantly MPH'd at 108.
In the street it was good- it 'turned on' hard at 2200 rpm and pulled to about 5k then quit. In a 360 auto with a little stall it would be perfect. It was really noisy for a hft cam- the closing ramps are really fast and slam the valves shut. My solid cams are quieter.
I eventually had a lifter collapse and swapped the cam out while I was in there.

Hung up on, most likely! Kidding, Dom...
On a related note, a know of a 360, with warmed up 596 smogger heads, Eddy Performer, 600 vac sec Holley, and ran the OLD Isky 280 mega cam. .480 lift and added 1.6 rockers to get to .512 on the exhaust.
Car? 73 Challenger, bone stock. Dunlop Qualifers, rally wheels, battery up front...no frame ties. A real everyday driver AND had to have 200+ lbs of audio equipment in it. 3.23 gears.
Stock 904 with a shift kit, stock converter.
$99 Summit headers, cheap turbo muffs and 2.5 exhaust to the rear end.
When it was being built, my only thought was "ho-hum".
Only ran 13.40's, but at 110 MPH! Many, many times.
My point: Isky earned my respect!

No not from Howards, I have an older Hughes that has the same timing events but with a little less lift. Had it in a 360 with eddy heads that was in my 73 Duster. With lousy traction and stock converter and 3.23 gears, I had to walk the car off the starting line but would run 102 mph trap speed in Vegas. It had a very nice sound to it also...as if that means anything...Best thing is the price is very nice also....
We used another hydraulic cam from howards in our 71 Duster for awhile until we changed engines. It was 241/241 @ .050 with .562 lift....
And as a side note not wanting change the subject, It looks like Hughes has changed their cam grinder to Howards...New lower price and comparing some of the existing howard grinds to the new hughes grinds...basically the same and Hughes has added more grinds for the SB based on the .904 lifter then howard had.
