Anyone using this setup? The CompCams 911 spring is recommended up to 500 lift B/RB but are a larger diameter than the factory spring. I called a vendor and ordered a "drop in" replacement set of springs and I'm a little uncomfortable how they set in the factory retainers.
Thoughts? Don't worry about it? Did a board search and several members have used them but no word of the retainers.

No! Those retainers are far too small for that spring--come on--7 degree steel retainers that fit are available from Herbert Cams cheaper than the shipping-- Not a good idea to go that route and cheap to make it right

I helped a friend install 911s on his car and thought there was WAY too much slop in the stock retainer, so like you we had to waste time waiting for new retainers to arrive.
Now I need to pin those needles, got to feel that heat Hear my motor screamin while I'm tearin up the street

Sealed Power has a new series of stock H.P. springs. Exact match for 4 bbl 383-440, 440 6-pac and 426 Hemi.I won't use 911's any more broke 2 in each of the 2 sets I have used lately.
Leave the gun.......take the Cannoli's....Mike

Sorry, I assumed you were replacing factory hi-perf springs which are 1.50 OD. Those springs look like 383 2-barrel springs so 911's will be a huge increase in seat pressure.
DC books states all the B/RB retainers are the same PN 2402045 after 1964 or so.
The mystery deepens.
Don't know. Perhaps in that context "all" means all hi-perf engines and not all engines. The hi-perf retainers will definitely fit 1.50 OD springs though.

It says all the "newer" engines.
Hmm, looking up a 60 300 with a 413 shows a smaller diameter valve spring than a 70 300 with a 440. The 70 should have fit the 911 springs just fine, 1.494" outside diameter on the Sealed Power spring.
They say there are no such thing as a stupid question. They say there is always the exception that proves the rule. Don't be the exception.
