I have a trade in the works for two Dodge 880s
(1) 1963 880 4 door
(2) 1964 880 Convertible
Both have Big Blocks with 2bbl carbs.
Would these be 361s or 383s? Thanks!

I don't know about 63 but both engines were available in 64

Assuming the engines have not been swapped....looks like 361-2bbl and 383-2bbl were both available in '63.

880s? More power to you. IMHO they're ugly and hard to work on. But a convertible is always cool.

Me I like the 880s of that era.Typically a lot had the 361 as we had 3 of them and all had it.Rocky

I was searching Ebay for 1964 880 Convertible stuff and found some sales material. In 64 there was a special 383 2bbl 305 Horse engine available in the 880 Verts. Anyone ever heard of this engine? How was it identified? Was it designated in the vin or was it on the fender tag? I hope to have the 880s at my shop by Friday.

Appears to be just a continuation of the 383-2bbl from 63 shown above. Nothing 'new' or 'special'. It would be engine code 05 for 64.

It would not be identified by the VIN but is probably indicated on the fender tag. On a 64 Jefferson plant built car, look for 5 under the P.

FWIW, I pulled some parts off of a '64 880 in the local yard a couple of months ago; scraped the crud off of the engine ID pad. It was a 383 2 bbl.

Thanks. All I can read is a reference to the 383-2bbl being available for the '63 880 models. I see no mention as it being a 'special' for '64 convertibles.
