That car would stand on the bumper with the 727 and 528. Should be interesting lol.

It will drive like a /6 d100 with pair of good shocks and some careful suspension tuning.

That is a very good point Ron. I'll measure the pinion angle at the differential yoke and report back.

Anybody have an opinion on how the pinion angle should be set in a car with ladder bars and coil overs?

Now on to the next mock up hurdle. The Enderle tunnel ram linkage does not quite fit my Indy manifold. The spacer that bolts to the center intake bolts leaves the throttle pivot too far inboard. I think the easiest way to handle this is move the bracket out and ditch the spacer. I'll let the pictures illustrate.

For your engine placement point the C/L of the engine
trans right at the pinion so its all in line with
zero pinion at this time... then roll the pinion
down 2* for your ladder bar.... I use a laser pointer
in a block that mounts into the rear main but that
wouldnt help you out... I need to make one up that
mounts on the trans trailshaft so it would show you
where its at on the pinion

I think I can mount a laser level to the bellhousing and get an idea of where I am on the vertical specs. Not sure if the yoke is centered in the car or offset. I'd guess it is centered. I'll check it out tomorrow.

Try making the bottom brackets set at 90 degrees apart from to each other, these types of throttle linkage take time and effort to get correct. The dang mounting hieght on the side pivots above the carbs can affect them Take your time, have fun and let us know your results

I think I'll go ahead and drill/tap the manifold to accept the pivot directly and buy a longer linkage rod. I spent a bit of time modifying and fooling with the adapter piece and decided it will all work much better located farther outboard on the manifold flange. I will have to move the throttle linkage over as well. Thanks for taking a look Cab! And thanks for selling me the velocity stacks!
I have been doing this engine project (in duplicate) for a long time and it's nice to see stuff going together and fitting the way it should. It sure is great to be back in a decent shop with all of my tools organized.

Here is a look at the back of the intake valve from the carb flange. Ooh la la.

You better be pulling 3rd with the front wheels off the ground. That would be sick.

Lenco trans ratio's as ordered last month:

2.87
1.98
1.38
1.00

We will get you a 3rd gear wheel yank and then drive down to Arby's for a beef n chedder right? I even found a stock dash upstairs so it will feel a little more like home in there.

It's been a busy holiday season for us so not much progress. My helper made the templates for the mid-plate ears so that is all taken care of. The Unlimited pro stock scoop came too. It is very nice and extremely light weight.

Other than that we stripped the wiring from the car, made room for the wiper motor and under dash vent boxes, and moved the line lock out of the way. It's a good thing we are cutting up the tunnel because it is hammered!

Hopefully things pick up in the new year however having a pool table in the next room isn't helping. I think I am 11 games up and she is trying to catch up with a vengeance!

Happy New Year!

On the subject of Edelbrock Victors, valve springs and rocker gear:

I like the Isky RAD-9999 springs for these heads @ 1.950 installed height:

Specifications:
Style: Dual with Damper
Outer OD/ID: 1.600"/1.150"
Inner OD/ID: 1.040"/.745"
Seat Pressure: 250 lbs. @ 2.000"
Open Pressure: 770 lbs. @ 1.200"
Rate: 650
Coil Bind: 1.150"
Max Lift: .800"

They are 283 @ 1.950 and 738 @ 1.250

This is what I found when looking for a 1.550-1.600" diameter spring that would work well with my deal:

275/282 @ .050"
.448"/.436" Lobe Lift (1.7 rocker)
111 LSA

The cam grinder says it requires 240-260 seat and 680-720 open.

Thoughts?

Once I get everything mocked up I'll get pictures and such so we can have more discussion on the subject. I'm not opposed to using the B3 solution. Also thinking of moving up to Jesel or T&D (currently Hughes). Does anyone have any experience with the Jesel stuff? My understanding is that the T&D setup is limited on spring diameter at high lift ( > .700 ) I'll save the Hughes stuff for my milder nitrous motor.

After removing the old super stock hood scoop I am running in to a small dilemma with the newer style pro stock scoop. I think we can get away with using a large oval or rectangular air filter ( good bye velocity stacks ) but something needs to be done about the front of the scoop to hood mating. Anybody with fiberglass experience want to throw your in on this? My hood is rough so I'll hack, sand and add material until it looks sanitary. Not sure if I should glass it or use rivets either.

Wow, that scoop is really long. Any chance you can slide it back 2 inches? Or is it at the rear edge of the hood already?

I am leaning towards adding inside flanges and dzus fasteners. Removing the outside flange would allow me to move it back an inch or more. Part of the issue here is the front carb sticks out of the hood higher than the rear and the top of the scoop is lightly nose down due to the angle of the hood. This was the only mopar scoop that will work with this head/intake/HVH spacer combo. I figured a 7" cowl would be a little too much.
