bringing wagon home and putting in my heated garage which is not mouse proof by a long shot. what are u using? have used moth balls in nylon stocking in past. what else works? thanks in advance rick

Rolling up the windows is a great start!

Leave the hood up so they can't hide in there. Does it run? If so, start it and move it every couple of days. This works best from what I've seen in the repair industry. When they sit, rodents hang out. Also get rid of any food trash, bird seed, water, pet food etc from the storage area. This stuff invites them in. Let your cats, if you have any, hang out in the garage periodically to cat around and leave scent.

I use Decon in 3 shops, haven't seen a mouse in a couple years now.

A friend tells me dryer sheets work great.

On my modern stuff I install screens in the air intakes and plug all the penetrations into the trans bellhousing (that cost me a Neon clutch a while back - I use to only do the air box).
For the itnerior - get the strongest smelling drier sheets you can, and leave a bunch in the trunk, in the interior, and under the hood. I hate mothballs - the drier sheets in my experience work better, and don't smell like old peoples' houses. I leave some cars outside in shelters, and i repalce the sheets once during the winter. Inside stuff i don't have to replace them at all - they'll go all winter.

We have had great luck with scented dryer sheets. The stinkier the better. I put them all around in the car, and also anywhere else mice like to hide including around wires and the airbox inlet.

I use dryer scent in every corner in my pop camper and in old cars, it work real well also Decon too.

I've found this works the best:

One mousetrap in the building with peanut butter. Face it towards the wall. Check it every day.

And leave no food in the building, not even a candy wrapper.

I've tried those bait blocks and found that it gives one of two more problems: Some of it isn't strong enough to kill them and they actually LIVE on it. Or, the stuff that does actually work means you won't find them until a year later all decomposed somewhere you don't want them, like under your seat.

Once you add mothballs, drier sheets, or whatever preventative measures you take, you'll likely STILL have a mouse get in. So, as a good backup plan, get a couple bait less live traps to put on the floor boards, mice enter from shear curiosity but you can add bait if you wish (a single Frito corn chip daubed in peanut butter works well) (see the traps Here ). This way you can catch multiple mice and they stay alive so they don't stink. The only catch is that they need to be checked once a week or so or they WILL die and then the stink will follow but at least you'll know where they are so you can get rid of them.
