Does anyone know how to check the past owners by the VIN ?

the state DMV may help. Depends on the state. Most have a form you can fill out and for 20 or so bucks and verifying your the current owner will at least get you some history. You have some legal language on not contacting previous owners.

I've done it in arkansas, missouri, kansas, oklahoma, texas, washington. But, I also a have my dealers license.

Last time I tried to help a friend on his 70 hemi charger here in MO and the wording on the forms are more strict.

Im in AR. I found a 73 Challenger in OK that I am 99.999% sure was mine from '79 to '83. Several details that I found on the car that were on the same one back then. BUT I want to be able to confirm.

DMV told me they couldn't go back that far.

Any more suggestions?

OK DMV or AK? Oklahoma has good history. Have it on my 71 RR back to 73. Did my dads Hemi GTX from AK and OK. friends Superbird, etc.

they should have microfiche.

AR. If the story from the guy I got it from is correct, it has been in AR it's whole life up until 2 weeks ago when it was bought and taken to OK.

I called DMV in Little Rock and they told me they couldn't go back to '80.

I looked at what I had and its OK, TX, TN that I did on the Hemi and RR. All went back into 70's on their history.

If he car was in AR all its life, they have history. I don't know anyone in the area to contact. Maybe someone from AR with DMV knowledge can chime in.
