My 70 E-body had a bolt in place of the return spring pivot pin. I am replacing it with the proper pin but what retains the pivot pin in place in the bracket? I can't find snap rings of the proper dimension and am wondering if a clip similiar to what retains brake lines would work? What did the factory use?
Nobody will ever see the little devils but I'll know they're there and want it to be correct.

Thanks
Sheldon

The spring !!!

The pin has a groove in it to position it. Once the spring's on it ain't goin nowhere!

Hmm: Yeah but the snap ring (or whatever) grooves could pull into the bracket on one side and cock sideways conceivably. Maybe the grooves are thinner than the bracket, I'll pull it down this afternoon, I was going into town pretty quick though and if I need to pick up something it would save me a trip in on Monday.

Not saying that but the factory wouldn't put grooves in the pin for looks. Take it personal if you want.

Nevermind: I found a photo by Filmsurgeon that shows the pin being PULLED into the slots in the cage by the spring. Now what you said makes sense Stanton, Thanks. I figured the holes were round, not slots.
