So I am in need of a replacement gas cap for my 68 charger. I have been looking on the web and have seen reporduction prices from 75-150, is there a difference in quality or are they just produced by a single supplier and each company is selling accordingly? I also ask because I need to replace most of the trim from my car and I dont have the extra cash to experiment on finding out. Thanks, Tim

What does the outside of the cap lock like? Can it be a locking cap?

75 bucks sounds awfully high.

He's talking flip top and dish.

I'd be curious if theres more than one manufacturer - just for curiosity sake.

BEA is a mopar approved part, I am not sure of any others. I think there maybe because of some big price differences. Tim

Not to side track any of the above but...... at least the Charger has a remotely correct gas cap and ring, it flips just like the original and the plating looks fine. All of the rest of the " B " crowd 68-70 have to settle for those crappy repro caps with the two little tabs that you grab on to twist the cap off ouch on the fingers. Why can't they make one like the original cap with the high arch handle which is much easier to open and kinder on the fingers. just saying,
SORRY for interrupting the original topic......... carry on.

Later, BUZZ

$75 is not high at all. Remember the OP is asking about a Charger cap, not a regular B body cap.

I don't know for sure but here is my experience in buying a cap for my '69 Charger about 3 years ago. As you know, '68 and '69 caps are similar. The first cap I was not happy with the look of the brushed surface/area (I had 2 original caps for comparison). The area was very shiny/chrome with faint brushed marks as compared to the satin/deep brushed look of an original. I then bought 2 more from different suppliers. Those 2 looked identical to each other. The brushed areas was noticeably better than the first one, but still not a great match for the original look. The first cap was the cheapest of them. IIRC by about $10-$15 at the time.

Perhaps I am a little slow here, but I am not sure what you mean. Are you saying the one in the pic is "non weird" and is Chinese made but comes in a Chrysler box for $200?
