Got a set of Stage V, cast iron, standard port, wedge, open chamber heads that are P/N P4532287. Just wondering if they're good for FAST racing since they basically look like a production iron head?
One seems to have the area for the pushrods clearance more than the other one. I had heard some old info about them being able to run an offset pushrod and was wondering how much??
I see they are an approved NHRA SS head, but I'll never chase that pot of gold. FAST would be something I could be more likely to afford.

OK, Thanks Dave!! Looked a little closer at them and one is stamped "993" on the end of the head while the other is "2286". They were not purchased together as a set. The "2286" looks to be already cut for the 2.14/1.81 valves. Looks like I'll need to mock-up some rocker/valvetrain to see what will really work.

I just lost all interest in following F.A.S.T. class racing
Those heads are still open chamber so all they get you is a better casting to start with.

A w2 is open chamber, manufactured by chrysler, looks stock, and iron To me that was all the interest was going fast with and I quote from the FAST website... "1) Correct* OEM parts. These parts must be proper for the year, make, model, and horsepower claimed, and they must be Original Equipment Manufactured (OEM) parts. Examples: Intake manifold and cylinder heads."

What stock intake works with a W2 ?
Since I haven't raced in the series I'll not speculate as to why they are legal.

Surprised to hear the V is legal, and there is an aluminum W2 dual plane that looks just like a 340 AVS, I guess FAST feels the need to loosen the rules or else only 2 or 3 cars would be competitive. Lots of stage V info in the tech archive, with a 2.19 intake you can get them to flow pretty much on par with an edelbrock RPM. A 906/915 can flow about as well at peak on the bench but the V has more short side and a thicker port roof to work with, a 45 yr old casting with a lot of $$$ porting is an expensive vulnerability to run for a 'hobby' class. As for aftermarket, I know FAST allowed non OEM blocks for the Hemincars even back when I was helping out 10 years ago Didn't understand how a non stock thick wall block that would conceivably take about 605 cubes was legal when you really can't take an oem to anything close to that...but....

You dont think they are gonna push a stage V till it cracks? They go as far as possible with whatever casting they have and they all end up fragile.

If they let bbm guys run that head then the chevy guys want to run an aftermarket head, ford guys want to run aftermarket then like you eluded to it just has to look stock and any ones definition is up for debate.
I never was a fan of the aftermarket block but they have to run a stock bore size or stock + some small over size I think...

Well, the Stage V is a factory aftermarket, cast iron head, that LOOKS factory. The best cast iron head for the Ford is the EX15, but it does NOT look factory and the next best is the factory Cobra Jet head. On the Chevy, not sure of an aftermarket iron head, better than the factory head, that LOOKS factory. And even with the Stage V, the Mopar wedges will still be WAY behind the other guys on port flow
As for bore and stroke......Factory Stock has bore limits with a stock stroke........FAST has no rules on internal parts other than a cubic inch limit, which is 560" and the Ford is 604"(which I don't get)
