I'm working with a '66 383, 32240 crower cam 260hdp grind .456/.477, 64770 crane 1.5 rocker arms and 64672 crane chromoly cup/ball pushrods 8.25" pretty mild setup i know but i'll be driving it 1300 miles in the next month. thanks all

I'm assuming this is a hydraulic cam, correct? If so with those specs, it is a very small cam I wouldn't expect having any lifter problems with those valve spring specs unless you don't break the cam and lifters in correctly (Do you know how to break it in properly? If not learn and follow those instructions to the final letter ) That being said buy the lifters Crower recommends and go from thier I personally would set the valve springs up with more pressure like the factory magnum Hi Po cams came with, 110 to 130 lbs on the seats and nearer to 300 + lbs open Call Crower and ask them about running those pressures and see what they say

I have used those lifters on 2 builds, no issues as of yet ... knock on wood ... the bad is they require shorter pushrods because they are basically built to fit the AMC application.

none of the cam grinders make tappets. whether you buy crower, comp crane or whoever. the key is; who do the cam grinders buy from?

That info sure changes the picture. I'd suggest calling Dave or Kevin at Hughes engines. They're as hardcore Mopar afficionados as there is & do not sell cheap (price or quality) merchandise

Rhoads with the Super Lube groove. Even on a mild cam you can pick up some low end and mileage. Call Don at Ajax Auto Parts 303.420.3696 for the best price.

yeah broke the motor in and all was good until the crower lifters that were in it started to cause ticking, pulled them out and the majority of them were so stuck i couldn't get the snap clip out to clean them out. not sure if it was because the motor sat for some years before break in??

You still don't seem to get how they are suppose to work.

Maybe it is time to return those lifters to Crower to see if they can help you on this

Tried on you previous post. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.

Okay, moving past not understanding how they work and moving to a replace solution, I would do what Cab said:

Give Dave Crower a call. I think he is still around. He will genuinely want to hear feed back about his product and any problems you are having. My guess is that even if you are unconvincing that the lift is at fault, he will likely still send you a new set at no cost.

Like Lew said, in so many words or less, everything at about the same price point is the same level of quality. The name on the box really does not matter. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't.

For you application, any supplier's inexpensive lifters should work.
